Overview
The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication, Government of India, has issued a notification for the online engagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), comprising Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak positions across various circles and divisions. Candidates will be selected to render service across departmental post offices, branch offices, and railway mail service locations. Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age, with permissible relaxations for reserved categories. Educational qualification requirements specify a Secondary School Examination (Class 10th pass) certificate with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized board, along with mandatory study of the prescribed local language up to the 10th standard. Additionally, candidates must possess basic knowledge of computers, cycling skills, and adequate independent means of livelihood. Selection is based purely on a system-generated merit list calculated from 10th standard marks or grade conversions. Shortlisted candidates are required to undergo physical document verification by the designated engaging authority before the issuance of provisional engagement orders.

Who can apply
10th Pass
Secondary School Examination (10th standard) pass with passing marks in Mathematics and English. Must have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard. Requires knowledge of computers, cycling, and adequate means of livelihood. Candidate selected as BPM must arrange accommodation for running the Branch Post Office at own cost.
